Asa Bailey is a British-born film director, screenwriter and published author, best known for his pioneering work in Virtual Production. An early adopter of real-time pre-visualization and in-camera VFX, with tracked cameras, motion-capture, simulcams and LED dynamic lighting, Bailey was one of the first filmmakers to embrace game engine technology on-set. Bailey is in high-demand as a Director of Virtual Production, Cinematographer, Speaker and Teacher, having delivered workshops for the Directors Guild of America and at MIPS, Bailey sits on the board of Advisers of both the DAVE VFX School at Universal Studios and the Studio UK Working Group. In 2020, Bailey served as Virtual Production Supervisor and 2nd Unit Director on Ian Livingstone's Deathtrap Dungeon. Also In 2020 Bailey directed a global campaign of 7 TV commercials for GSK using his remote cloud production methods, orchestrating crew and clients from all over the world to shoot remotely at a COVID-19 secure sound stage in Europe.
Bailey's debut feature film 'Duty of Care' a very British drama, received the praise Ken Loach, who said: "I'm delighted Bruce and Jack play with great sincerity." 'Duty of Care' opened the 1st Coastline Film Festival in 2015 and took the best actor award for Bruce Jones, and Film of Merrit Award at the North Wales International Film Festival in 2016. Previously Asa Bailey directed Jackie Chan in 'The Unbelievable' a short film shot in LA and Hong Kong. Bailey then set his focus on VFX and Cinematography and in 2016 Bailey founded the virtual production technology company "On-Set Facilities" based in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.
